Marketing Resources & Results Founder Speaks to Entrepreneur Class at Wayne College
Wayne College Entrepreneurs Learn Marketing Techniques to Launch New Business
December 8, 2008 ---ORVILLE, OH -- Wayne College students at the University of Akron asked questions of entrepreneur and business owner Chris Brown during their entrepreneurship class Monday morning.
Most of the students are planning to start a business and some already have started with their plans. During the hour class they learned about qualitatitive and quantitative market research methods, inexpensive ways to create their own website and cost effective techniques for promoting their business on the Internet.
"It used to be that to start a business you needed a phone number (land line), a fax number and a business card," explained Chris Brown. "Now it's a cell phone, a website and a business card."
The president of Marketing Resources & Results founded her business almost 11 years ago after working in corporate marketing positions as a brand manager and product manager. She explained to the class that focusing on a target market and solving a problem is a key to success.
"You don't want to get stuck with a warehouse full of products that nobody wants," she explained. "You need to research the market to make sure your product is both needed and wanted."
Brown also shared some inexpensive resources for printing brochures, postcards and other sales materials.
Following the presentation, several students talked with her to find out specific ways she would suggest marketing their businesses. Brown suggested that they read her Branding & Marketing blog at http://brandandmarket.com for additional information. It has a search feature which makes it a valuable tool for entrepreneurs looking for specific marketing information.
